There goes my love marching down the road

There goes my love marching down the road

A Poem by Jay

There goes my love marching down the road

With loud guns, a formal gait, and a golden soul

There goes my dear beloved father

Of which I dearly adore

I look at the heavens and I implore

Please lord, don’t take him

I don’t want to be alone

You’ve already taken

So much, please no more

Don’t leave me forsaken

Don’t make my sun grow dull

You might have mistaken

That man

For another soul

Its cold this weather and this war

The world has grown dim in my eyes

The skies they cry tears

That I carry inside

Machine guns, blood, guts, mud sucks to be me

I have to go through it

I have to make myself believe, that I can take it

I can make it, but the truth is I can’t fake it

There goes my hope marching down the road

With loud guns, a formal gait, and a golden soul

Another lost soul
