Sweet rest

Sweet rest

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

I examined her poetic musings
dispassionately
not allowing any slipstream of lust
to muddle
the clear waters of my soul.
The lightbulb moment came
at 3am
when I realized
how many fools
are led away to slaughter
by her wayward words
I undid the noose
written round my neck
and once my freed head
hit the pillow
for the first time in years
I entered the blissful truth
of righteous rest.

The righteous rest - away from desire
But it seems that no man is ever so righteous
Maybe he needs to rest to be drawn back to her again
She drags so many men
But obviously this one man is the one who captured her soul and she is within his!
So rest is important to try again!!

Thanks for your review.
There is a spell certain men fall under when reading erotica, especially if influenced by an attractive woman/avatar. I've been able to avoid that trap, or at least, I've grown tired of it.

Well done.

I find this poem very relatable to my state of mind today.
Only after undoing the noose of emotions, the shackles of misplaced impressions and delusional illusions can we enter that state of bliss and beautiful sleep.
The undoing may be painful at first but is truly worth it in the long run.
Awesome and inspiring words!
