Moonlight fills my soul

missing you is my solace ~

is sunrise my foe?

Waves wash over me

my heart is treading water ~

no solid ground here.

I'll remember you

While I'm forgetting myself ~

how do I go on?

One of the best aspects is your questioning, something hardly ever done in these short forms. This makes it feel as if the narrator has a gazillion agonies tugging on the soul. This is the most heart-tugging sensation I've ever got from a haiku/senryu. Usually poems of this form seem more cerebral & sterile, but yours is a grabber & a wringer (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

haunting .. brings lonely times to me nog and heart :( the sketch fits ..the colors stark yet it still has warmth ... I would say the third in the three is a haiku not senryu ... i only say that to help me keep them straight .. i can't tell you how many times i keep looking them up .. in the first, your line "is sunrise my foe?" especially catches my attention .. have not seen a question in either senryu or haiku .. but of course i haven't read all there are just yet ;) very emotive trio ...universal and relatable for sure .. glad i stopped my friend..i am going to be thinking about that line today ... pondering the sunrise

Thanks for stopping by my friend. There are conflicing opinions on what constitutes a senryu vs a haiku. What makes sense to me is that senryu contains explicit emotions, whereas haikus merely describe a scene / is description (unemotionally). I may also be mistaken :)

oops .. had to look them up again .. i got it backwards .. haiku are about Nature and senryu about human foibles ... and here I thought i had them down for once ;} oh well .. another re-enforced poetry lesson for me ;)
