Wish you were here

Wish you were here

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

The sun gave up to squeeze its head

Through thick blankets of clouds

The peninsula of rocks extends

Into the sea like a crocodile’s head

Soft, happy waves discuss the news

Of the ocean with gossip-hungry sand

The green foliage soaks up the shielded heat

Its unspoken wish for rain

Just like my own, wishing I was there

And that we could squeeze lazy grains of sand

Through our careless toes

And I hear you whisper

Through the wind-swept view

Wish you were here

long distance love expressed with lovely imagery...and personification...as the scene comes alive, the setting where one gazes and wishes he or she was holding hands and enjoying the view with the other.
