I smiled back at the sun

I smiled back at the sun

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Bleak, I thought this day would be

But seeds not sown by me

Sprouted, anonymously

And pushed through dormant soil

Yellow and orange sunlight

Rejoiced at seeing some green

The stubborn greys fighting in the clouds

And the resident greys in my heart

Agreed, too, on a truce

And on the same day

The soil

My soul

And my life

Smiled back at the sun.

Image from Google. My sister was walking in her winter ravaged garden (in the UK) and saw something green pushing through the soil.....something she did not plant, and just seeing that bit of colour, brought a smile to face, and inspired this poem :)

Signs of life sprouting through the bleakness. That's always enough to put a little sunshine in your heart. Simple things can give the greatest pleasure. Nature is wonderful.

damn this is good...the idea that somehow we have to push through...sprout seeds of success in career, in life in love...we battle with doubt so much...but we have to be able to win that battle, or as you say find a truce...push forward and smile at the sun...i think it really wants us to.
