The sun whispered to me this morning

The sun whispered to me this morning

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

The sun whispered to me this morning
its stealth-like mumbling pierced through
a few renegade clouds

At first I did not recognize its voice
it sounded too cool - like the wind

But then those energetic words flickered
where they lay in my ice-cold heart
like semi-dead coals, reawakening

The heat unlocked old memories
reminded me of happier moments
of nostalgia I forgot was my own

A little smolder looked like a face
I tried to forget
but when I saw that blue-eyed smile
I felt it warm my hungry skin

A floodlight of brilliant rays
made me long for that sunshine embrace
I just had enough strength

to pull down the black-out blind
to forget that
the sun whispered to me this morning.

One of your best poems that I've read so far with awesome artwork. Those daily moments of dawn are so momentous here on the edge of wilderness (for me), I often wish I had new ways to write about how it feels to watch while sipping coffee. Here you've taken this desire that resides in me & you've twisted it into a dozen new directions. I love the way your imagery seems to be taken both from the actual physical scene at hand, as well as those inner pops that you express so powerfully thru imagery. These two aspects of your imagery keep twisting back & forth in a restless way & I didn't even see your ending twist coming. I love that you finish on an almost irreverent note, who could black out dawn? *smile* Fondly, Margie

I like how you work with your fantasy. Each line develop another level of your, imagination. Poem feels very light in good meaning. There is few, deep spits,of puzzling of own life. Words are in good dance with open mind. I like it. I don't have, too much to criticize so maybe next time.

This speaks to me of the memory of hope that we can find in those moments that still our mind. In amongst the chaos and shrapnel life throws at us, there are silent moments we see with perfect clarity, that is enough of a glimpse to get us through tp the next one. We hope.
Great lines here, and the descriptions of light match the image perfectly.

clever metaphoring sir! love the pic .. the remembrance like pain in birth ... turns to those joys .. just long enough to cause fear to close the blinds .. really like your "...black out blind" and the repetition of the opening/closing lines ..read it twice .. second time was better ;)
