I found this poem because Writers Cafe suggested it as related writing to one of mine. I'm glad I clicked on it. You paint a beautiful picture with your words. I'm not going to add any more to your already positive and detailed reviews. Just that I really enjoyed this poem and good job. :)
This is a well-detailed extended metaphor using color gradations as a meter of intensity, it seems. It's so clever the way you express this entire sequence: bird shadow sending shivers down your pen. I guess this is why writing dries up when the weather goes foul, huh? Love your painting choice too (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Someone was just saying here the other day that the moon and stars get all the attention, and none...for the sun.
Here's a beautiful ode to old Sol; and a beautiful painting, too!
It's exactly what was needed. Good on ya, sleepless (gulp) volcano...should I be concerned? I have relatives in Everett, Washington...

Thanks for your your welcome review. I’m off to doing some research on galaxies and black holes - all this sun talk shifted my inspiration exponentially :)

I look forward to it...don't know a lot about such things, but I am open to learning!
Very beautiful imagery here and I love your flow of words. "A bird flies by and blocks
a few dozen rays
the few-seconds burst of sudden shade
sends shivers down my pen" I like!!! :)
i like the juxtaposition here of writing and autumn...
i usually write a lot in October when the cool crisp autumn days arrive...but we are still having heat indices of 90 or so...so the pen is still dormant...but this poem gives me hope.

Such beautifully penned words that currently grace the amber light of Autman, as evidenced in Afremov's painting. Your colorful poetic images, including the moment of darkness, is understood by the reader. Don't ever stop writing. :)

How fortunate having the sun for a muse. Your sun picked words received with much warmth. Your posted image a perfect match for your poetry. Lovely stuff. Thank you.
i think this is timeless and priceless Volcano! one of your best says i! i have to say i started with the painting..it truly demanded my attention..and the artist has given us a sunrise that, as the focus, points to the tree and rail ... for me the glory of the sun is given to these others and all three share that glory .. your poem ...so many things that spark my soul ..original phrasing ... sharp emotive imagery .. the passions of poets and artists ..and i feel a bit intoxicated by how you expressed the inspiration .. shining on my words ... bursts of shade (who would ever think of shade and shadows bursting) (wow!) and for me the end all "...shivers down my pen" ..i am not tweaking egos here my friend ..but this sets the bar in my books ..well done ..i can tell what a burst of inspiration it was for you...thanks for sharing

This poem is a true story - it happened this morning. I resisted the temptation to read online newspapers and took a pencil and my diary and sat on my bed. Maybe I was not awake enough yet, because no words were forthcoming....and then the sun came up, and touched my pencil :) I now call this "experiential poetry".....Imagination is powerful, but words are so much more potent when we can say, "been there, done that" :)
