Advice on fixing a broken heart

Advice on fixing a broken heart

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Find a quiet place
far from people and busy picket fences
Listen
to the sounds
around you.
Count them,
all the different ones.
When you cannot hear
anything else
speak out loud
to your own heart, and say,
"Speak to me, my heart"
and then listen.

If you hear nothing,
for a day, or a week,
that's okay
for a broken heart
needs time to speak
give it as much time
as it needs.

But when the day arrives
and its words start to flow
be ready with a keen pencil
and record all its musings
and while you write,
even if it's for a month,
or a year,
your healing
will begin.

Now that, is precisely what poets do, my friend.... cathartic this writing lark and true, a novel panacea, if ever there was.......... Neville

This is so imaginative & beautiful. The way you paint this scenario feels whimsical all along & then at the end we are bowled over by the deep abiding sense that your advice makes. I love the way you put your words into a conversational tone with a lyrical feel to it. I love the way your advice doesn’t have a bit of preachiness to it, no impatience, just the sincere understanding of how it goes with a broken heart (love the part where you say “take your time” with a variety of creative details). Fondly, Margie

We all have to heal in our own way and our own time. Broken hearts suck though. Love the image you have posted with your poem.

Thank you
