The rabbit hole of fake smiles

The rabbit hole of fake smiles

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

She swings
like a wild pendulum
happy jeers pay the rent

The boy sleeps
when she stumbles home
another story she'd invent

Fake smiles
the currency of hell
all she has is broken trust

Another night
it's this or the street
the price to pay
for monetized lust.

This is killer. I can’t believe what a fulsome picture you paint with so few words. I got the initial idea early on, which starts as an embryo in your poem. Then it grows ferocious as it culminates in such a sad sad ending. As a recovered drug w***e, I understand this life, faking smiles & orgasms for a temporary escape from my psychic pain. Every single line is crafted with amazing originality. Just amazing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
