Why do you run?

Why do you run?

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Why do you run, my love,
why do you run?

my gaze will not hurt you, love
I'm no smoking gun.

Lay down your troubles, love
my love you must choose

Let go of the past, my love
those chains I'll cut loose

Can you see me there, my love,
can you see my flare?

Come home to my heart, now, love
both heart we will bare.

Wonderful that you can pacify someone and want to secure them in your live- true love does that- what comfort your words bring for someone who may be lost and confused🌹

This poem could be written to me, since I’m “a runner” . . . the idea of commitment causes me to run . . . and your poem is the kind of coaxing that such a skittish person needs to hear from someone who isn’t trying to pin him/her down to anything, but just to be a true friend. Your words sound simple & sincere, without any ulterior motives or false expectations. You’ve conveyed your message in a way that even the most skittish person could trust & try to stay calm & stay put. The way you use “love” as a term of endearment adds to these sensations (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This was a beautiful read. I wrote a similar piece such as this. There's something about clipping chains from a heart that's amazing. No matter where they may turn there's no place most comfortable than in the thoughts of the ones they love. Great read.
