Finding peace on a park bench

Finding peace on a park bench

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

It’s been a while since we spoke

Your words have turned orange and brown

Like the leaves

In my empty driveway.

Your whispers still echo

Around my aching ears

But like clouds in the desert

They are just there,

But bring no rain.

When I walk in the park

And I’m struck by a whiff

of Japanese cherry blossom

I look around to see you

But it’s always someone else.

On that wooden bench in the center

I often sit and wonder

I know that you’ll not be coming

But I sit there, to meet with myself

Maybe like Eve, I could have chosen better

But your sultry words

Snaked around my hapless heart

And struck I was "

Dumbfounded by your smile

Maybe forgetting comes

After strolling for another

Thousand miles.
