A dream of a prayer ~ sonnet

A dream of a prayer ~ sonnet

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Again, I seek a guiding light to shine
My rocky road has bruised my fragile soul
Torn from my chest my heart beats in cold brine
So why am I still walking on hot coal?

Too many times I've tried to find a way
To placate wayward whims with fake belief
Is that the reason why I want to stray?
It's not God's fault, I am the wicked thief.

Fear not, don't let your burdens steal your peace
obey the truth, give heaven all your cares
and in a moment you will have release
if you denounce the curse of these nightmares.

In solemn awe I now adopt new dreams
Come Shepherd lead me there to peaceful streams.

Words of deep introspection in the heart of a good man. I say a good man because I understand that conflict happens only in good souls. There is no room for self-doubt in the unabashedly evil soul. I love the message here. The picture is lovely.
