Just a short story

I couldn't expect of you
Something you're not able to give
So I stepped aside
To let time take it's toll.

Maybe we saw too much too soon
Maybe you were too careful
Maybe I was too rash
Maybe you were still scared
Maybe I should have known from the start.

As much as I wanted
One page
For both our stories
I guess the love of some
Becomes a novel
But ours, sadly
Just a short story.
