Running out of words

Running out of words

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Have we gone too far?
My sane self asks again
My angel just stares into the distance
My demon chuckles
Pats me on the back
Some gems have to be mined for
You have to get in deep, he said
But the sweetness in the end
It's worth it, right?
His wry smile answers his question,
I hear a voice, like a breeze -
Too much honey
Can make your soul bitter,
True wisdom and peace,
Do not need glitter.
I chuckle, saying
I didn't know angels could rhyme -
But I cannot hear a response,
Just footsteps, sounding away
And I felt stuck
In a free-verse stanza
With only rhyming words left
With a snarling whisper, echoing,
I guess, my friend, you're outta luck,
Is there still time for one more........?

Every demon was once an angel. But a demon shall never be an angel again. Sort of like the fall from grace is the loss of virginity or words that a poet wrote then threw away. We can't have them back, no matter how we try. Wonderful and interesting read. Bless.
