Dear girl with the misty eyesA Poem by SleeplessVolcanoYour gaze fades with your unspoken thoughts Into whirlpools of darkness I fear to explore Yet smouldering cries for help I detect Deep in those dark pools which hide in silence. I've tried to release that kidnapped smile You've locked away in your heart's warm corner But I stumbled over your frozen regrets on the cold stone floor of your blackened heart. I've tried to coax your gaze to find mine But it scuttled away like a startled gazelle What horror has caused this scar in your soul? What darkness have sucked the curve from your smile? Those brown pools of sadness are churning my soul I want to break down those walls of overgrown ivy Let me shelter your hot brow from life's fierce heat Let my words become the shade that you so desperately need. © 2017 SleeplessVolcanoAuthor's Note
