Tea with Abdullah

Tea with Abdullah

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

The desert wind blew hard last night

The hot rocks on the roof burnt my hands

Abdullah said we need to find bigger ones

The sand burnt our faces, yet we found a huge one,

But too heavy for one

So both of us heaved it onto the shaking roof

“Tea?” Abdullah asked with a smile

We sipped our fatigue away, while windy sand

Taunted us from outside

But our souls were at peace, for the moment

The stars seemed to help the wind’s angry gusts

But still, Abdullah only smiled

And told me of the day

He lost his camel in a sand storm

He found it again, three days later

At the seven palm tree well

The sand cleared its head

It was alive, and at peace with life

That is the magic of sand, he said

It gets between your toes,

And into your ears

But we need to love sand, because it loves us

When it finds our souls

It gives us peace

One grain of sand at a time.

If we live by the sea we need to learn to love the sea, if we live on a mountain we need to learn to love the terrain and the thin air, likewise Abdullah learned to love his own environment and is tutoring his friend over tea.
Unique, enjoyable and interesting write Sleepless Volcano.
