My favorite words

My favorite words

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

I was abducted by my favorite words

They took me to the log cabin on the cliff

And we played musical chairs

Until the memorable red wine ran out

Unapologetically ravishing

My adjectives played truth or dare

While we nibbled on similes and metaphors

Until the delectable mature cheddar ran out

When the moon shone ominously above

Some verbs admitted

That they were only faking it

That life just became mechanically monotonous

And then, without much fanfare,

The essence of me ran out

And my words stood there, dumbfounded

And watched, for the first time

A silent, solemn sunrise, without me.

I love the feel and flow of your words, their thoughts dancing in this sweet solemn place of light. Words are such magic, so alive, and your poetry only gives them breath and movement to seek us out, and capture us.

This is a very very clever poem. The way you have skillfully combined poetic spirit with grammatical one is applaudable. It feels like the poet got lost when the words were taken away from him. Beautifully sad poem.
I thought you had given up on writing. It is great to see you again.
