Midnight Scribblings

Midnight Scribblings

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano
"

"Good cheese and poets are always good friends"

"

Was it my imagination?

I thought I wrote you a letter,

Giving you my street address

In downtown Vienna, just a hop, skip, and jump

Away from the Blue Orange Coffee & Bagel.

Last night I could not sleep

And the light hurt my moist eyes,

But the happy moonlight helped,

So I scribbled a picture of my front door

Where I’d hope you would knock one day -

I even put old Gustav on the outside

While I played chess in the park - just in case,

But you never came.

I guess my ordinary, cheddar-cheese-twice-a-week-only life,

Did not match up to your camembert, brie and white stilton style.

If you ever get to the last page of your American dream,

And you've not forgotten me yet,

Come look for me, and you'll find me,

baking chocolate brownies with Gustav,

Playing chess in the park,

Or scribbling love letters under the oak

To the one I’ve never had.

Well .... two joys that one could never get enough of

Cheese and writting

and if that sketch is yours
then drawing

and in a instant one becomes the richest person alive :)

A lovely poem SV.

I liked this line:

"If you ever get to the last page of your American dream,
And you've not forgotten me yet,"

Sometimes it's better to forget those people of days ago but only your heart knows if she is worth it.
But all have that "someone" don't we?

I would like to read your porcupine poem, sincerely. If you do get around to writing it then please let me know.

A very nice letter.
"Come look for me, and you'll find me,
baking chocolate brownies with Gustav,
Playing chess in the park,
Or scribbling love letters under the oak
To the one I’ve never had."
The above lines I liked. I miss the days of chess games, coffee and long conversation. I like the places and thoughts in the outstanding poetry.

Very good rambling and you are welcome.
awwwwwwwww ... love sickness of the common man :( love the images and scents of cheeses ..a fine drawing (surely you penciled it) ... my big question is who is Gustav?? :) perhaps you have a short story or ..a long one in mind!? i enjoyed your poem ..it has a universal relate to it ...and an almost obvious lack of meanness ...which we do know happens in these sad stories of love and loss .. nice job says i!
