Country roads

Country roads

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Take me back
To those winding roads I wanted to flee from
And I'll kiss its dust with my bare lips
Take me back
To the harsh wind withering my skin
And I will embrace it with arms open wide
Take me back
To moments I once held dear
And pockets of time I used to smile about -
I will resurrect that joy,
If only I can have another chance
To take that peaceful road again.

"Take me back to those winding roads I used to flee from..to moments I once held dear...pockets of time." Simply beautiful. The heart's reflection and longing - if only, if only one could go back.

Memories are precious because they have passed us by but wanting that joy and that peace of a moment is what makes holding onto them that much harder but also that much sweeter

"take me back" ...oh if only we could sometimes ... my wonderful Irish Dah told me one time as we were having one of many discussions .."Son ... we can never go back! Even if we do ...nothing is the same .. not really" ..it is one of many things he said i remember ... life teaches us that ..but ohhh the times we wish it were so ..assured we would do better a second time right?! :} finely expressed bitter sweet poem!

Into my heart an air that kills from yon far country blows. Said A.E.Hausman. (A Shropshire Lad) A remarkable piece.

Love and its broken bones. Sometimes we wish to take back the moments that we're the happiest. We can't control our future we can only guide it through our choices. What's done cannot be undone, but there will always be a new beginnings, to start over if given the chance if not then to move over to another place to where the heart shall rest and beats as much as he wants to... you have expressed yourself well my friend... keep it Up!

I think moments are meant to rise and fall
So we never grow too fond of them or too bored by them

And like the cycle of life
For every moment lost
A more beautiful one replaces it

If only one would wait

I love this feeling you describe here
and i am afraid i think i am living it right now
Lets hope it doesnt flee away

It is a scary thing when we think we describe the past and then.....oops.....you realise the circle .. read more
The countryside makes me feel joy and peace, the air is different it's lighter, the roads are wider and the green view makes my sight glimmer. The mornings there is another whole level. Thank you for reminding me of those magical feelings, this lovely poem gave me the same experience.

You're welcome. Nice, share it. :)
The title reminds of of John Denver. I think you describe what many of us feel from time to time. Sometimes that joy is elusive.
