Painting by Julius von Klever - The eye of the storm.
May perfect peace Overtake your anxious heart May meandering melodramas Cease And be replaced By soothing relationships May the words of your mouth Speak light into darkness And be used by heaven To light a candle In the darkest recesses of hell Until the place where your heart will dwell Will be that point of sweet release - Where your heart, and soul, and mind Finally, remain, at ease.
Such a lifting, soul-searching flow of light. Your words inspire and exalt the life from darkness into the joy of walking at peace, on heaven's glorious path.

Wow... this so incredible and so soothing to read... I feel like I feeling of calmness overtook me when I was reading this. This is such a lovely poem, I really really like this. Now on to the meaning: I do have an anxious heart and I know what it feels when you an anxiety attack so this poem explains in three lines that . We all want to be calm don't we? Then I ask myself, why DON'T WE TRY to feel calm and happy? I feel like sometimes humans like to feel sad and not calm with themselves because in someway they like it or they have come to terms with it. For me, Religion and God have made a big impact in my life, they really have saved me from lots of before death experiences, and in God I fine peace from my anxiety attacks. I know a lot of people are atheist too, so maybe we should all try to find what we are happy with and try to be with it, what ever makes your boat float in other words. I love the first four lines, I can read and read this poem and never get bored. So good work on that, this is truly a masterpiece.
The poem itself on structure: The painting gave it a more wonderful feel to this poem, it's really beautiful and the poem itself rhymes and flows good, it's very enjoyable to read.

Just some comments.......people (Christian and non-Christian) are not at peace because the ydo not live spiritual lives, but fleshly lives. We can be Christian and carnal - our lives would just be miserable. The word "happy" or "happiness" is a strange one for me, since it is more a human term, than a biblical term. The bible talks about holiness, i.e. it does not really matter how I feel about my current situation.....if I know that I am holy, then I know that I am in the center of God's hands, and that sooner or later, his blessings will manifest tangibly, even though I do not feel it right now. My heart goes out to you for your panic attacks.....I have also, strangely, had some lately, yet I tend to believe that these are not always as rational as they seem. Our enemy is sneaky, and if we give him a foot in the door, he will come and take the door and the whole house too, if we let him.
I pray that God's peace, that peace which passes all understanding, will guard your heart and mind and keep it safe until the day when we will have peace forever.
