Lesson from a street sweeperA Poem by SleeplessVolcanoVoid of artists and intellectuals I stumble down my darkened alley way The sun supposedly fighting to rise But it has an attitude problem today I find Ibrahim from Bangladesh Sweeping the streets with a smile Scooping up sandy dust The desert will blow there again tomorrow But that does not bother him at all He says he smiles with pride Knowing that if his hands remain faithful With his broom It may just change the luck for his son And give him one day a scalpel to wield In this war of earthly survival And somehow I feel positively lectured In this void of artist and intellectuals I stumbled upon a hardworking Michelangelo Faithfully practising his wise craft To benefit the next generation And suddenly I feel so small compared To my new friend's wisdom. © 2015 SleeplessVolcanoReviews
