Fake smileA Poem by SleeplessVolcano"better than a fake frown?"Thanks for the call my friend You said I looked a bit worn last night I did; I still do. Thanks for noticing But I am a master of panacean platitudes - Playing musical chairs, with my shape-shifting attitudes You know it's a guy thing. Our stumbling block egos - Keen to discuss those happy highs, but mum about all lows Which threaten to suck up all my life force Like alien reeds growing in a reservoir dam. The deterioration from without caused by heat And from within, my comfortable defeat But I won't burden you with the chutzpah of my chicanery My brave face impersonation Numbs most niggling sensations So I'll ignore my heart's cry over this reality And sacrifice my pain, on my alter of simmering superficiality. © 2015 SleeplessVolcanoReviews
