Lost Boy

Lost Boy

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano
"

"They break my heart"

"

He is a head shorter than the others
Shoulders drooping low
My boy-like willow
His eyes hints at pain beyond his years -
A mind locked behind voiceless fears
His mouth lights up when I stir him on
As if I am the only one ever trying
While inside, like a biology experiment gone wrong
His heart is dangerously close to dying
I hope I reach down deep enough
Before he remains lost
Forever.

Hi SleeplessVolcano. Wow! What an empathetic piece of writing!! You have read his soul, and trying so hard to penetrate his mind!! I so love this. I should not like to think of this person as lost, at least walking a wrong path leads to hope for the future. You have portrayed his emotional turmoil and its effect on you with great clarity and without trying to over-embellish, giving your poem a particular authenticity. A great write!!! alf

Those are the hardest kinds.. the ones that just connect with us right away, that steal our hearts and we remain cut open hoping to succeed in helping at least one bit. keep pressing on! it is but the beginning.
