Insomnia, interruptedA Poem by SleeplessVolcanoClarity sometimes arrives way past midnightI went to bed, With an inspirational thought, It sunk deep into my troubled mind, Seeking what good it could find. Yet I grew tired of flippant expressions Of " tomorrow is the birth of your success" Or "your biggest dream is your biggest test", And toned it down a notch or two, And found a simpler, enduring truth, While feeding the cat around midnight - It came to me - "If you do not feed your spirit during the day Your flesh at night will lead you astray", And in a moment the raging fire was quenched, Drifting off peacefully, fist now unclenched. © 2015 SleeplessVolcanoReviews
