Black Waters

Black Waters

A Poem by Dom

Lit by the summer moon,

through dark cities;

mankind slept joyfully.

The river mutters of demented seas

lying in wait,

and of black devils and black rain.

The evening shadows hold faces

who dream of red caskets speckled with gold.

While the stars are sleeping,

clouds slowly burst.

And falling like droplets

from bleeding black puppets,

the murmuring waters came snowing,

turning into a ferocious tide.

Black tiger sharks swim;

stronger than cognac lightning,

and into the snorting oceans,

drowned men sank

down into the abyss.
