Before You Read This Novel... MUST READ!!!

A Chapter by Sylvia E. Lioness

Just some before-reading warnings, since this is a continuance of a series... Rated teen due to language.

Ideas: You will hear about the Harry Potter Series a good deal in the before-reading section. And you will hear about the Potters a good deal in my novel, so right now I want you to ask yourself truthfully if you've read the Harry Potter Series. I say truthfully, because you may not have read the whole series (meaning you skipped a few books), or you may have read it when you were young and didn't understand it well, OR (this might be the most common occurrence) you may have watched the movies instead of reading the books. So… HAVE YOU READ THE HARRY POTTER SERIES?!?! I would like to admit that if you've watched the movies (I have read the books and watched the movies), that you can consider yourself informed decently. HOWEVER you CANNOT consider yourself as a person who's read the books because you have not and the books contain many more things that the movies did not and probably could  not contain.  A lot of my important places and people and ideas come from the HP BOOK Series, so being honest about this question can help you a lot. :)

Pronunciations: Before you read this novel, you need to make sure your saying the words right. Like try saying the novel's title. No… try again. No that's wrong, too. And no, that's not it…

The title should be pronounced : Mer (like mermaid) - ch (like cheese) - a*s (as written, yes I wrote that) - see (as written). Now put it together. Mer-ch-a*s-see. Myrchase.

Now try this: Myrci. Based on Myrchase, you might be able to see that this should be pronounced as "Mer (mermaid) - sigh (as written). Mer-sigh. Myrci. Okay. Good. Now that you have that down, you should be good to go. Any other weird pronunciations will be discussed when they occur.

So… why am I making such a bit point about reading the books? Sure, the books probably contain a lot that the movies couldn't contain, but so what. The main idea is what counts, right? Well.. I'm making a huge deal about reading the books because my novel starts off essentially where the HP Series finishes. AND I include a good many things that the books talk about, but the movies don't include. For example… I include Peeves. The funny half-ghost whose always playing pranks? The movies don't include him. But the books do and he actually plays a good part in what happens. Also… what about Harry talking about wanting to be an Auror? The movies don't go into that!! But the books do, and I included that too! I could talk a while about the things the movies missed and the books include. But my point is that if you've watched the movie, yes, you've gotten the main idea about the important places and events, but some of the people and ideas and things that the movie do include will be in the novel, and then you're going to be confused. So be honest, and PLEASE  follow the instructions!

Please try to understand that I am not going 100% Harry-Potter on this. Though a lot of my story comes from the HP Series (Hogwarts, some spells, the places etc.), I am not just copying. There are new creatures, spells, and dangers that I have come up with and put in this story. The HP Series was completed… Voldemort died (good riddance!) and then there's the happily ever after… I am continuing a year or two after the epilogue to the final book to the HP Series (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, my personal favorite of the series!). Okay? Glad we got that straight. Sylvia.
