Like Echoes from the Past

Like Echoes from the Past

A Poem by Skylar
"

A short realization I had followed by the song that brought it on.

"

Its 2:15 in the morning and I am dead tired, but something pulled me out of bed and to the keyboard. Like a melodic anthem from years bygone it brought me to think, it's as if someone open a tome of my past and placed it to music. A aurally pleasing epitome of my history all nicely packed into four minutes and seventeen seconds. A retrospective look at the distant past as well as the recent events that shaped my current condition. But haste not my loyal readers, all shall be revealed soon enough. What I've done some hold as criminal and others normal, some as a tragic waste of life and potential while others simply a broadening and strengthening of soul and ability. But whats done is done and what is to happen we will discover soon. So, I will just wait, watch, and wonder whether it was me or the lovely catalysts that made me into the author.

I used to be such a burning example
I used to be so original
I used to care I was being cared for
And made sure I showed it to those that I love
I used to sleep without a single stir
Cause I was about my father's work

Take me out tonight
This ship of fools I’m on will sink
I’m my own stone around my neck
If you’d be my breathe
There is nothing I wouldn't give

I used to pray like God was listening
I used to make my parents proud
I was the glue that kept my friends together
Now they don't talk and we don't go out
I used to know the name of every person I’d kissed
Now I’ve made this bed and I can't fall asleep in it

Take me out tonight
This ship of fools I’m on will sink
I'm my own stone around my neck
If you’d be my breathe
There is nothing I wouldn't give

Things that were heard at the scene of the accident:
"They never hit their brakes..."
"There was no time to see..."
"He just ran out in the street..."
"Does anybody know his name?"
"I think I recognize him..."
"He sure as hell paid for that mistake...

Hey, I love Brand New. Sometimes I feel as though they are writing the lyrics to my life as well. My favorite song by them has to be Jesus Christ. Anyway, I see you are new. Welcome to the Cafe.
