Chapter 40 of "Forbidden Love."

The rest of the trip went on without a hitch. We moved from town to town switching cars every so often. We minimized checking into anymore motels unless absolutely necessary and just spend the night in the cars. To avoid any unwanted attention the only food we had was stuff we bought at gas stations. Good thing I stocked up on 2 month’s worth of blood bags.

We stopped once at a laundry matt in Illinois because our clothes were starting to turn ripe. Quil and I kept busy by playing road trip games and listening to the radio. At night we would park the car somewhere with a view and eat “dinner” on the hood of the car. We even snuck into a park in Missouri in a town called Ballwin and watched the stars. Quil and I even practiced on reading each other’s minds until we could talk to one another without words.

While listening to the radio one morning we heard,

“ The man and women who caused a shoot out that claimed the life of one civilian in Ohio is still at large.”

Two criminals on the run. But for being on the run from the law (both human and immortal) Quil made it so much fun. We made time to just lie outside and forget about the rest of the world. There were no more secrets between us. (Not that we could even try to keep any.) Everything was out in the open. I could’ve stayed on the run for the rest of my life as long as I was with Quil. But nothing lasts forever.

It was late at night almost reaching morning hours. By then I had lost count how many days it’d been since we first left Pennsylvania. It could’ve been months and I wouldn’t have known, more or less cared.

Quil had been driving for a while I crashed in the back of the jeep. We had just eaten at a breakfast place in Kansas. I was pretty bored so I was just cleaning a my weapons and polished my katana. I must’ve lost touch with reality cause when I opened my eyes when the car suddenly stopped. I sat up and looked around but it was too dark for my eyes at that moment.

“What happen Quil? Did we run out of gas?” I asked pulling myself between the two front seats.

“Nope,” he said getting out and poking his head in the window, “we’re here.”
