Chapter 31

Chapter 31 of "Forever My Love."

I jolted awake still afraid she was somewhere close coming after me. All I kept thinking was I have to get away!

    “Jamie are you okay?” Who’s there?! But then I remembered last night and I knew it was just Zach. But I still didn’t answer. I just sat on the couch gazing around anxiously.

    I nodded numbly my body so disconnected from my mind. It all makes sense now! But if what Zach told me was true about fallen angels masquerading as humans then…this girl, Eve could be anywhere!

    “Jamie?!” Zach attentively placed a hand on my shoulder. I yelped and jumped as if he had burned me.

    “GET AWAY!” I screamed pushing away from him so hard I knocked myself onto the ground.

    “WHOA JAMIE!” Zach leaped off the couch and gripped my shoulders, “hey it’s just me.” I looked at him petrified. He pulled me onto his lap and held me tightly. “It’s okay you’re okay.” He cooed softly in my ear. My body relaxed as I gave into him. I let myself be protected and shielded like a child. I felt so safe in his arms. I knew Eve-if that was her name-was out to get me but I felt like she couldn’t touch me as long as Zach was by my side.

    After a while of just sitting on the floor together Zach pried me away from him and pushed strands of hair lightly away from my face and tucked it behind my ear.

    “Are you okay?” he asked. My reasons of being so scared of a nightmare seemed childish and embarrassing. So I just decided just to forget about the whole thing.

    “Yeah I’m okay.” I said standing up. Zach still wavered by me probably expecting me to collapse again.

     “You sure.”

     “Yeah I’m sorry for scaring you I just…had a nightmare.” Zach seemed revealed making me feel childish for just saying that. I mean what am I 5?

    “What was it about?” I remember how he reacted when I told him I had seen Eve. So I decided it was best not to tell him.

     “Oh I don’t remember.” He still seemed worried so I just touched his face and smiled.

     “Hey Zach?”

      “Yeah?

      “I was just-”

      “Jamie we’re home!” OH NO!

      “Zach you should go-” but I was already alone.
