Chapter 12

Chapter 12 of "Forever My Love."

He was standing there with his hands in his dark blue jeans. He was wearing a black long sleeved buttoned down shirt. His black hair was still long and his side bangs covered his left eye. His eyes. Those blue eyes I had fallen in love with.

        “Zach…” my voice was no more than a whisper. The corner of his mouth quirked up in a smile. And then after almost a month of longing pleading and fantasying, I heard his voice.

        “Hello my sweet.” Tears blurred my vision as I tried to catch my breath. So many things I wanted to say boiled inside me.

        “You’re here; I mean you’re really here!” I took a step towards him.

        “Yes I’m here for you, my sweet Jamie.” When my name passed his lips everything broke down. The walls I had built the day I had lost him collapsed. I cried a month’s worth of tears.

        “Can I…” I reached out to him cautiously as if he would disappear with one strong gust of the wind. He took a step towards me, arms open. I placed my hand on his chest spreading out my fingers as far as they would go. Feeling his heartbeat under my fingertips brought me back to life. A rush of sheer joy came over me. I collapsed into his arms with a sob. Zach crushed me against his body holding me tightly. He was warm and he smelled sweet. But not like the guys that bathed in over expensive cologne. He smelt like a home I had been missing, like as long as I was in his arms nothing could touch us.

“I-was-so-alone!” I said between sobs.

        “I know and I’m so sorry,” he pulled me away so he could hold my face in his hands, “but I’m here now. I came back for you.” And then he was kissing me. We had kissed before but this was different. We turned our heads this way and that trying to melt into each other. I opened my mouth slightly tasting nothing but Zach. Everything in my body buzzed as if Zach’s touched awakened my heart.

We broke apart breathing hard.

        “But…how?” I asked, “I mean I saw you, you were…” my voice trailed off. I couldn’t bring myself to actually say the word dead. 

        “I came back to protect you.”

        “But from-“

        “Jamie where are you?!!” Rachel. A pained expression crossed over Zach’s face.

        “I have to go.” Immediately I gripped onto his shirt feeling as if someone had punched me in the gut.

        “No! Please don’t leave me not again.” I begged.

        “Jamie!” Rachel’s voice grew closer.  

        “I have to but if you need me just call to me and I’ll be there, I promise.” He kissed my forehead and then I was alone.

Omg, how can be he solid and ehe's a ghost/ i wonder how he is able to come back to her and what he has to protect her from. Stupid rachel for ruining everything!
