Chapter 5 in "Forbidden Love"

I watched her. I watched her as she killed those two girls and I watched her as she stumbled into the alley. I knew my drug had taken its affect. It would’ve been so easy to kill her right then and there. But that wouldn’t have been fun at all.

I watched her as she slowly slipped in and out of consciousness. I knew sleep for her kind was impossible and only the potion of a hunter could knock her out. I watched as her body slumped sideways and her head fell to the disgusting floor of the alley. I inched forward and slowly made my way across to her limp body. I leaned down and painted the sign of the hunters on her forehead with ash.

“You have been marked by the high council,” I whispered “and you are being hunted.” As I watched with fascination her body slightly twitched and I immediately placed my hands on my sword. But I knew she wouldn’t awake so I let the blade rest back on my hip. I strode away from her body and out into the night. I would see her soon, but the next time more blood would be shed.

This chapter had me completely drawn in. So beautifully written. There seemed to be a perfect balance of description, dialogue, and telling of the tale. I also loved the changed font as an effect and the switching of narration. This hunter sounds like he is going to be interesting. To me this chapter was not just writing, it was an experience.
