Heartbreak

Heartbreak

A Poem by Skylah Ginette

I am rotting beneath the skin.

Maggots, spawned in my pores,

Feast on flesh-

Eating me alive

From the inside.

My muscles grow putrid

From pain, from shock.

I am infested.

Rage and hurt crawl beneath

This ivory concealer.

My bones are brittle prison bars

In this body, this jail of emotion

Where I am shanked by suffering-

But I only bleed internally.

No one will know the difference

When I become hollow.
