Fix Me

Fix Me

A Poem by Skylah Ginette

Angry shards of shattered glass

Stabbed in my brain.

I am bleeding out my eyeballs.

When will these crimson tears

Cease to flow?

When will I be fixed?

...Will I be fixed?

Who would perform the surgery

To remove my broken bits?

Who would stitch me back together,

Heal my scars and kiss it better?

No one deserves this mess that is me.

Can you even heal scars that deep?

Don't waste your life

Saving mine.

I'll do it myself-

A botched job that won't heal right.

That's all I was meant to be.

Very powerful. I too am dealing with the mess of what is left after sexual abuse and other childhood trauma. And like you, I also use poetry to vomit out the poisoned thoughts that play in my head. I can't tell you it'll get better or that you will overcome the horrible prison of PTSD, but what I can tell you is that you are not alone and no matter how useless it may seem at times, writing it out can be a balm to the soul. Well done ☺
