A reaching hand

A reaching hand

A Poem by Stone

Everyday we hear and see tragic news
People killing others
Youth committing suicides
Parents killing their children
Such senseless death
Such waste of life
For the simplest reason.

Whose fault is it?
Is it you, me or others?
The answer is very simple.
It is all of us.
We turned a blind eye to others' pain
We used lack of time as excuse
We tell ourselves it had nothing to do with us
We have our problems too.

Many tragedy could have been avoided
All it needs are simple gestures
Reach out our hands.
A hand that pulls one up when they are down
A hand that gives us a pat on the back to say it is okay
A hand that will slap us when we are wrong
A hand that won't let go during the good and bad times

So, reach out to those around you
Do not underestimate its power
Tell them it is okay to be down or fall
Because
You will be there with a helping hand
To pull them up on their feet .
