Words of a child

Words of a child

A Poem by Stone

I glanced at the boy
So care free
Never knew the power of words.

When we were young,
They told us to speak our thoughts,
Wants,needs,fear,and many more.
It is a free world,
Where freedom of speech is lauded...

What a joke....
As one ages, we speak less.
We ask even less.
Why?
Because age and time
repeatedly taught us many hard lessons
Words can hurt ,kills and lies....

Poor little boy....
All he said was "I don't love you daddy"
In childish tantrum...
Not knowing how he inflicted thousands of wounds on his father's heart.
A heart decimated by his cheating wife
One that is shamelessly making his life
A living hell.
Telling him to be grateful she cheats with a woman and not a man.
Poor man,
He wanted to rant and rave at his son.
But will a child just learning to speak
Understand the significance of his words.

How my heart aches,
For both father and child.
Words can heal and comfort..
Even so,
I can't think of one....
As I watch the glistening eyes of the father
Words can come easy
I can tell him all will be well
The pain will be gone soon
You will forget this episode of your life
But , it is almost like a promise
One i dare not be responsible for

The child....
He just said sorry with puppy eyes
Just a simple word.
We utters it often,
How many was sincere?
