chapter three

Chapter 3:

 

We found an abandon market just across the street. It was weird because it wasn’t there before. We entered it with our guns ready to shoot but of course it was there was nobody there. I was surprised it was the best thing that has happened to us since we’ve been here.

Some foods were already expired but others were good to eat. We took as much as we could and placed it in a large bag that we found laying around in the market it was for sale.

“Hey maybe here is not so bad” said Legarious.

“What’s wrong with you?” asked Mellissa she looked at Legarious like he was crazy but obviously everyone knew that.

“Well I don’t know whateves” said Legarious ignoring the situation.

“Okay let’s just walk back to that storage” I said.

The whole walk to the storage was full of silence. Afterwards Legarious and Mellissa started fighting again and I hated it I just wanted to punch both of them in the face and tell them to shut up.

“Get away from me freak” said Mellissa.

“I’m just trying to help you with the bag” said Legarious.

“I’m fine!” said Mellissa.

“Are you guys serious! Stop fighting I’m sick of it you guys been fighting the whole integer walk here! So, shut up!” I said angrily I was already getting a headache.

“Okay calm down” said Devin.

“Yeah man you freaking me out” said Legarious.

I didn’t answer.

When we arrived to the storage it was on fire. Well not on fire but a fire inside was starting so we rushed inside when we got there it was a random guy.

“May I help you?” said the guy.

“Umm yes this is ours and we would like to get it back” I sad.

“Well I guess that explains the bags and the guns” said the guy.

“What’s your name?” asked Devin.

“I’m Luis. I was running away from does things they were chasing me like if I was food or something” said the strange guy or Luis.

“So you just got here?” I asked.

“No I’ve been here for a while but I didn’t know they ate us” said Luis.

“Well now you know. Their like zombies or so. Look do you know a way out of here?” asked Devin.

“No not exactly. But one of them said something while I was being chased. They said ‘once you get in there’s no way out’ at first I didn’t get it but then it got to me” said Luis.

“Wow!” said Mellissa.

“I can’t live here forever man I got to get out. There has to be a way” said Legarious.

“I have no where to go” said Luis.

“You can stay here. Just don’t try anything stupid we don’t trust you yet” I said.

“Okay” said Luis.

Devin pulled me aside. “What the heck you thinking that his here to help or something this is not a game we’re here by ourselves we can’t trust him” said Devin.

“I know that’s what I said. Just relax I’m just checking it out you know he can help us in something he might have more knowledge on living in the woods than us as you can see” I said.

Then we both looked at him. It was true. He knew how to make a fire he already made a bed out of leaves and he was dressed weird to be a visitor. His hair was medium long it was shiny but brown. And he looked like he was maybe in his twenties or so.

We ate dinner quietly. Everyone except me and Devin sat away from Luis. We were trying to figure him out but he ate normal and he always had this weird serious look and he sat very still you couldn’t even tell if he was breathing and not only that his eyes changed colors every couple of minutes, one minute they’ll be gold with a redish lining and then they were brown with a golden lining which was weird.

Then finally he talked.

“Okay I know what you guys are thinking. We am I so still and why do my eyes shift colors every couple of minutes. Right” said Luis.

“Yeah” said Devin.

“But is okay is none of our business.” I said.

“Yeah it is if I’m going to be here. The thing is I’m not like them but I’m not human either” Luis whispered.

“And the thing is neither are you two. Don’t you guys get the feeling that your hungry and then when you eat is still there? Then you can smell other people’s blood but mine and each others?” said Luis.

“Yeah” Devin and I said surprised it was like he was reading our minds.

“That’s because you guys aren’t human” said Luis.

“I know” I said.

“Really then what are you?” asked Luis.

“A monster something that is dead but at the same time shouldn’t even exist” I said.

“Were not monsters you just don’t know how not to be” said Luis.

“Wait. What are we then I don’t get it” said Devin.

“Remember when I told you that we were vampires and then you laughed. You thought I was kidding” I said with a very serio0us face.

“Yeah” said Devin he looked worried.

“Well I wasn’t kidding” I said.

We just stared at each other silently. We didn’t talk at all. We just wanted to get out of here but now Devin knew what he really was and he was scared but I wasn’t. Whilst reading, I had the impression that this chapter has a contemporary setting (in view of the dialogue exchanged between characters). Also, I liked the way in which they interacted - as it seemed quite convincing. Despite the spelling errors and other language flaws, this was reasonably enjoyable to read. I had the impression, that the writer quite liked writing this piece as well? Thankyou, for sharing this with us - and keep writing!
