Before the Frost,
the world was mine for the taking
Love embraced me,
carried me;
enhanced me;
and I dared dreaming Greater
than any form could hold.
Foolishly it may seem,
for the ice tide had yet to overflow life
with mystery and sorrow;
with magic too great to fathom,
even for an open mind.
And it was over,
in few moments of breaths and astounding gasps,
of the ripping sensation
that my world had lost a loved one
to the merciless Time.
Time,
as it’s own Thinking deity and goddess;
ringing its hour in my ear,
ripping into my heart
wounding knowingly
while stealing the Angel from my side.
What memory of Love lost
doesn’t weaken the heart and its belongings;
tear it to shattered shards of crystallized sand corns
on a lonesome road.
I have walked miles upon miles to burn memories off of my feet
and cursed the dreams for their lingering seduction,
as if I could wish back wings and feathers
and create an Angel out of dust;
For,
I wish you back in each letter leaving my lips
I wish you back in each heartbeat;
in each breath
In each flood of tears
You are such an infrequent visitor but your poems remain (thankfully) in your place. This one in particular holds a special place in my heart. It is a private sanctuary for me ... I place I can always come ... a safe harbor ... and as I sit among your words I am free. Free to be alone with time to ponder and continue my own private journey toward inner peace.
So, when you do come to visit don't be surprised to find me here replenishing heart and soul. Yes, without you and your poetry everything is truly broken.

What beauty lies within each line, each phrase dripping with honest emotion of hurt, loss, sorrow... So many lines of perfect imagery that cut straight to the heart of this reader who has also "walked miles upon miles to burn memories off of my feet
and cursed the dreams for their lingering seduction,". A stunning piece.
Great stuff here. "I have walked miles upon miles to burn memories off of my feet". Amazing!! This line did it for me and I think it brightens up the poem at its core as it really emphasizes the longing, the rememberance. Cheers!!
