Quadruped

Quadruped

A Poem by Skye Fields
"

It's a zoo in here!

"

Love is a captive quadruped.

It strikes out at random but never leaves the bed.

Our hearts are beating against the bed.

We love the bed; we paint it red.

Last semester all we read

were books about virgins blonde and dead.

In your bed I was just as dead.

We were random virgins in your bed.

A zoo broke loose atop your bed.

Love was a captive quadruped.

We loved and died; our love is dead.

i like the cartoon of irony in the rhyme rhyme rhyme thing.
and then the way it is juxtaposed

we were random virgins in your bed
a zoo broke loose atop your head

kind a good.

I like the comparison of love to something four-footed; it takes two to tango after all :)
I won't lie to you, but this poem came across as juvenile (mind you this is my opinion only so don't get offended). The repetition of the word "bed" alone created a resounding redundancy in my head.
The mention of "Last semester" was unnecessary and took away from any flow that you attempted to create. It has no place in trying to tell a story about love in this case.

Good effort.

The previous part of poem sounded like the love of youths who were wild and caged. But, the last line confused me .. how did it die?!. If is just love making that we are talking, I think it's not love but lust. You could add a little note on your each poem, giving a glimpse of what is going on. But, tell you something, they all sound great. :)
Your poems are really hard to crack! Take it as a complement.

Very nicely done. This peice calls out permiscously. Like a college boy taking virgins to his bed and making them think he loves them...until he is done with them. But that is just what I get from this peice. It is very creative though.

Wow! This has to be my favourite by far. It's.... quirky? I can't think of the right word to explain it! I love the rhythm. Now that I think of it, quirky is the right word. I also enjoyed the rhyme that it had. You managed to do it without sounding forced, something I know I have a problem with. I'll definitely be adding this one to my library!

Interesting. I don't exactly understand it, and the flow is a little off, but it's good.
