Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve

A Poem by Siobhán Kiernan

That bitter cold night,

A mission begins.

Stocking up

On supplies to get me through

A pocketful of gold coins,

A clean, shiny card.

The jingle begins.

Rummaging for something acceptable

Spending hours confused

Getting pushed and abused

Leaving defeated, I offer

A hug for you,

A kiss for him,

A kind word to her

A thoughtful gesture for Uncle Jim.

Happy Christmas.
