Spontaneous generation

Spontaneous generation

A Poem by SkinlessFrank
"

the ancients believed that you only needed to place hay in water to generate life...we're not so different

"

Macerate a few herbs aromatic

fennel, thyme, cardamom

inside the fifties housewife’s head scarf

before she stows away on the back of

an air force drone

to the old country

where her mother’s

slaughtering a goat with a

broken Coke bottle

and her father’s learning how

to dog proof the Christmas tree

No one’s taken off their boots in months

and when she passes them the shoe horn

it’s all over as soon as the landlord says

“Please, no ethnic cooking”

and you foolishly reply

“It’s just hard boiled eggs”

I adore your spontaneity and the fact that you ARE all generations. Write, write, write!!

what a fantabulous array of metaSPICEphores~ I'd go nuts in your poetic kitchen~rolling myself in vegetable dough and spicy adverbs~

you have one hell of a recipe book for poetry

This was way more poetic than usual with the usual 'edge'. You always manage us to make us laugh and shudder at the same time, a truly unique and exquisite sensation.

starts off straightforward but as soon as we got to 'slaughtering a goat with a broken Coke bottle' then i knew i was back in your world with its oddities, bad mannered truths and strange realities. stunning!

I second roarke's second. lol!
wonderful piece of writing: spans time, space and background. calls to us all.
and, yes,
I want more.

Cheers!

I second Mike's thoughts, this piece does grow and can keep on growing. Each reveal, each evolution of line delves deeper and spreads further. Let's hear some more, or am I being greedy?

we're not any different all, just temporarily warmer and better fed...look at the horizon, here come the fleas
