Spontaneous generation

Spontaneous generation

A Poem by SkinlessFrank
"

the ancients believed that you only needed to place hay in water to generate life...we're not so different

"

Macerate a few herbs aromatic

fennel, thyme, cardamom

inside the fifties housewife’s head scarf

before she stows away on the back of

an air force drone

to the old country

where her mother’s

slaughtering a goat with a

broken Coke bottle

and her father’s learning how

to dog proof the Christmas tree

No one’s taken off their boots in months

and when she passes them the shoe horn

it’s all over as soon as the landlord says

“Please, no ethnic cooking”

and you foolishly reply

“It’s just hard boiled eggs”

Americanophobia is apparent here, the brutal description was cool. good poem over all.

-- ohhh... what an acerbic tone of narration... such a brutal disillusionment... -- i am suddenly reminded of something i wrote about how human beings ridicule the snail by saying it's slow when they don't even budge an inch... -- the images in this piece are chilling... -- i'm also reminded of static electricity... -- the harsh interruption in transmission... -- a strange kind of stagnation... -- these days, here in india, we are claiming that we made cars in the vedic age that could also be used as ships, submarines and space ships... and anyone who says such claims are preposterous is considered 'anti-national' because those who get infuriated don't know the difference between 'anti-national' and 'anti-rational'... -- i flinched from society after i was given a chipped tooth and a black eye... -- violence gets to me... and the image of the goat reminds me of me... -- and yet again, i have read a piece and personalized it... -- not sure if i'm reading it as intended... but this is astounding work, Maestro D. ... -- it's astute social commentary rendered in an unbelievably powerful way... and i do realize that it is meant to trigger brutal introspection followed by self-correction... at least for me... -- i shall have to do something about some things...

Better than the coffee this morning, this little stop I made, kicked my mind in the a*s! It's a stunner, SF. Not so much for what it says, but rather, the way it says...
I love what is uniquely original, and differences are the spice of life.
And you...are deeply rooted in rich organic soil :)

how do you dog proof a christmas tree? Answers on a postcard! Without a cup of Frank in the morning..life wouldn't be worth living..and the cafe would be a dreary place.

I read a science article the other day. A research lab tried to use spontaneous generation to prove the theory of creation. They had some success...wish I could find that article..it was quiet fascinating. Sand and water...under the right conditions....turned into living organisms....but the research was banned, it turned dangerous. Conspiracy theory in the making. lol

brings to mind a housewife who reminisces about her old country where they live a rustic life...and because she cooks her native food the landlord is offended by it. shows how some americans are just meat and potatoes that when they smell anything aromatic they display their prejudiced and ignorant selves.
