the age of responsibility

the age of responsibility

A Poem by SkinlessFrank

the dentist reshapes

the bridge of your nose

his breath of garlic

it seeps from your pores

while you sleep

but when you

have a real problem

you call the plumber

to fish out your stomach lining

from the sink drain

using an eggbeater

that he operates

by pumping air

into a rubber bulb

that’s spent too much time

seeing the inside of organs

like the piñata that you raised

high up to the oak beams

with your climbing ropes and

split open with a pick axe

out poured whole chickens

and blood sausages, hams

and the lies

you told to your children

Aside from lies to children, it sure beats going to the emergency room.

These poems are such an infused world, like opaque and translucent fragments of stained glass made of test tubes from a mad scientist laboratory.

hidden wall panels, slaughter house scraps and old cement playgrounds....
There is no more original slant of perspective than your's SF.

what a trail through the cavities and swamps of the body and the mind~ you do gutt wrenching innnerscapes with a poetic surgeons fine scalpel~

There is a stirring strangeness here, the kind that makes one wonder what you are getting at beneath the gut-wrenching, panic-inducing exterior. Your work is visceral and captivating at the same time.

I liked this piece a lot, really captivating. I liked the formatting of this piece the most, the longer verse is perfectly fit between the others. Great use of imagery, as usual.

DO we go to the same dentist? Short guy. Likes to whistle the Theme fro The Bridge Over The River Kwai while he works, and the Magnificent Seven while extracting a tooth. Yeah. Him.
One of us travels a long way to get their teeth done.
Poems great though. Sharp, bright and like a raspfile across a nerve. I like it.

When the truth is cut into it pours ... I love it and the last two lines even more.. Raw and intense honesty is refreshing :) x
