Big Science

Big Science

A Poem by SkinlessFrank

I’m the guy

Who labors late into the night

To invent the “synthetic meat”.

You know, the kind that grows on

Petri dishes.

Big Science, you see

Has this quest

To replace the cow and pig

With cells that crawl around

Like grains of rice

on agar.

Given the proper stimulus

We'll herd them

Like pink worms.

And train them to not fly apart

nor invade your liver.

Wash your hands please,

It smells "down there".

-- ohhh... the atheist in me is feeling slightly hurt... but my pro-science disposition is compelling me to make a motherhood statement like... whether it's religion or science, extremes can be extremely dangerous...

-- this is astounding work... i guess only scientists can corner scientists...

Yeah, really. It sounds sooooo very appetizing. Maybe I'll stick with the old-fashioned kind.

It is a little scary...synthetic meat and somehow...wrong. Having said that, if I had to kill what I consume, I would instantly be vegan. A lot of BIG SCIENCE is scary if it isn't controlled. On the other hand...I don't want to be without antibiotics, insulin, cars, to name just a few things.
I am sorry I don't know more about poetry.

I like my synthetic meat well done, just as this poem is. I can tell from your words that you are mensa smart, with a wicked sense of humor.
Reaching for the'GermX' now...

Hmm, food for thought here (did I really just say that?). It's all news to me, but if it is a viable undertaking then we should probably go with it. I am an omnivore and I'll try most things at least once!

I think this is great. I too am not a vegetarian... I did roam among the cows and tried to ride a hefer with my friend Paulee on the farm next door. Cutting fence posts and eating eel and head cheese. Try that one on. You are definately a good poet.

I too am vegetarian and I do fear the genetically modified soy bean--Let it not invade my plate or liver--

I wonder if Robin the vegetarian knows about all the genetically modified fruit he's been eating? I've done some research on this...there is a fear that the body will not recognize the genetic makeup of these foods, so we will not process them normally....theory is...this could cause excellerated aging.

a rumble from the dungeons of Bioengineering . I'm Vegetarian , and lost my taste for blood long ago , but as the world reaches critical mass - 7 billion and counting ( allusion to golden arches intended ) Food is high priority , I just wish Monsanto would leave my soybeans alone ...
