i am clay

i am clay

A Poem by SkinlessFrank

i've been out digging
in the Davis Creek
for clay deposits
so thick and grey

it coats the hands
and fingernails
and soothes the mind
with its softness

with my feet
in the cool water
and my spade
i pull out handfuls
and place them
into a sack
that later
i'll empty
onto a board

in a few days
it will harden and
i'll pulverize the clods
with a mallet
screen out the
roots and pebbles
and mix the powder
with water
into a slurry

i don't know
but it seems as if
i've been playing
in the dirt since
i was a boy and
this process
still calms me

makes me feel
that maybe i have
more time left

yes, we come to the heart of you...in the mud, elemental, powerful, creator, making ready...such a rich song, this...preparation

~ oh, what an enchanting heart-song, maestro d. ... you delve so deep into the essence that makes us delighted and delightful... and keeps our little being hearts alive... ~ einstein while speaking about the theory of relativity once said that an hour spent with a lovely girl seems like a minute and a one-minute contact with a hot vessel seems like an hour... but your post is a completely different take... and i agree... time expands when i spend more time with my little girl heart... i relate to this piece more than you can imagine... and i'm happy there's at least one person on this planet... who magnifies time like i would... ~ thank you for this post... it's a precious gift made of smiles... ~ oh and i absolutely love the title... :)
