Putting Youself Out of Operation

Putting Youself Out of Operation

A Poem by SkinlessFrank

Please return your flat heart

to a human manufacturing plant

or dispose of it properly at

your nearest recycling centre.

Only dispose of heart

when it is flat

(or shattered).

Store your soul in a dry place

away from frost and before

the first frost sets in.

The product must not

be added to normal

household waste.

It must be disposed of at night.

what about the return policy, and the life time guarantee...and who let you out of the box again...there are rules, you know, not to mention commandments and experiments and wintermints...and all those pretty girls making a living breaking hearts for road construction

you're right ed, i forgot all about the wintermints
-- ohhhhhh... the tone of narration is ice-cold... and yet it accentuates the heartfelt soul-core of this piece... -- for me, this is a poignant appeal to the heartless... an account of their MO... their method of operation which treats the 'heart' like a 'product'... -- how can people be so clinical (and cynical) about the most emotional part of their being...? -- this piece is going to make me wear my heart on my sleeve till i breathe my last... i won't entertain notions of 'disposal'... i wouldn't like to 'put myself out of operation'... -- brilliant work...

p.s. thrilled to see a new post on your pages, Maestro D. ... :)
