You MatterA Poem by Sharon KimFor T.B.Your words
spill across the page Like blood
running from an open wound Sadness as
thick as fog Clings to
each syllable Despair
drags you down like sodden clothes as you swim
for the ocean’s surface You’ve given
up, You’ve given
in Lonely, but you are not alone Hurt, but you can be healed Sad, but you can be happy Hopeless, but you can find hope I don’t know
your story and I haven’t walked in your shoes But you need
to know there are others here for you and that This too
shall pass Sometimes we
need to find our own happiness Start small-
The innocent
smile of a child The sunflower
against the back fence standing tall-face to the sun A delicate
butterfly alighting on a flame orange tiger lily A waterfall
crashing down Chocolate
chip cookies warm out of the oven Driving on
the open highway, windows open, wind whipping your hair as you sing your
favorite song Your favorite
movie A good read A hug A kind word Find those
things that make you happy Wrap them up
into tight packages Store them
in your heart Keep them
safe so that they will be there for you when it seems like no one is. You are never alone. You make a difference. © 2013 Sharon KimAuthor's Note
