When We Die

When We Die

A Poem by Ronnie Smith
"

It simply just came to my heart.

"

When we die tonight,

Wish me good luck for my life in the next,

And please promise me to have no fright,

Because I'll always be here in your heart.

Hold me tonight,

For I know this is the End,

I will finally see the Light,

Quickly, flee, there is no more time to spend.

When we die tonight,

Echo my name,

Never forget me and the plight,

Never hang your head in shame,

You have so much to live for,

Me, I laugh at the idea,

Because I have absolutely nothing to live for

.. At least not on Earth.

When we Die Tonight,

Don't ever leave my side;

Hold me tight,

Hold me dear,

Hold me close,

Because Tonight is the End.

Death become less fearful with age. We watch our elders died and know our time will come someday. I like the thoughts and the desire of the poem. Nice flow of words leading to a strong ending.

It's amazing, though I found it kind of sad. I didn't understand one line though. What did you mean by 'never forget me and the plight.' ?
