Pleading

Pleading

A Poem by Skeith
"

A poem about someone I once knew, and you once knew.

"

Pleading

She strummed her guitar, lover, fingers bleeding

black. Her tumor leaking through nails

filled with life and identity striking

chords through unopened veins.

The girl who brightens a room upon enterring,

whose laugh is more contagious than breathing,

the girl you have never seen without a smile.

Yet amazingly, no one notices the pool of blood

forming around her ankles, leaving a trail behind her

as she leaves the room, staining the carpet red.

Her cries, as always, go unanswered.

She is, to you, something more than martyr,

as you realise she's been begining for help, your help,

with each strum, in every note,

each motion a ballad of screams never loosed.

Considering changing the first 3 lines of the second stanza. Also, I usually don't dabble in poetry, but sometimes things are better described in this way, so be gentle.

I enjoyed this. The pain conveyed in her performance "leaving a trail behind her as she leaves the room, staining the carpet red". Great imagery. A good read, keep up the poetry!
