I feel like this, time to time.

Can you see me?
I didn't think so
I do not exist
I'm not real
Just a character in a story
Not the lead
Not the villain
Only a name
Only an insignificant character
If I died the plot would stay its course
Not a thing would change
One less paragraph...
...sentence...
...word...

One less description to fill
A writer's mistake
A flaw
Sloppy work that you'd find it on sale

Maybe five dollars
I'd be there
Undeveloped and unloved
Forgotten by my creator
Just a mistake
A few keystrokes too many
Wasted ink, paper space
Don't

I think this is a great concept
a little work on structure and cutting out some of the fat

the flow died a tad for me towards the middle
allow me to suggest:

one less paragraph
one less sentence
one less word
a missed brush stroke
painting my portrait
a mistake
undeveloped
fetal
sloppily worked
a bargain bin denizen

... and so on

as you see your poem inspired me
you are definitely on the right track
