Abyss-Like

Abyss-Like

A Poem by Jon Cooper

A black hole
Abyss-like
The smell of fear
Fear and loneliness
Dizziness follows the fright
Weeping after that
Accompanied only by desolation
Isolated
From the world
From self
from all joyous emotions
Repeatedly, the tears call
They call ritualistically
They call for thoughts of happiness
The happiness does not return their cries
Only solitude
Solitude and despair
Waves of anguish erode the walls
Walls to keep out pain
Walls to confuse misery
They erode, crumbling and falling away
The ruble washes out with the anguish
The tides draw out
Their absence reveals old footprints
Past joy?
Enthusiasm?
Maybe even slight happiness?
No
Only footprints of their torture
A trail from when they fled
Removing themselves from life
To escape the torture
Without bright emotions all is dark
Yet, every detail
Every aspect of the suffering, is clear
Crystal
Everything is visible
But only one thing to be seen
Horror
Of the past
Of the changes, made permanent
Of illusions of hope
Knowing there is no hope
Knowing, but longing for it
Longing for all to be well
Wounds to be healed
Ties to a personal hell, severed
For peace
All hope is lost in the abyss
The hole
In your mind
In your heart
Lost
Only pain clings on
Pain, suffering, misery
Despair, loneliness, fear
Doomed
Alone
Dying
A black hole

I hate the world. I love art. I write nearly everything (except thoughts, which I write as they happen) under insomnia's rule. Nothing I write during the day contends with my sleep deprived work. My.. more..
